I found some tips at smarttraveller.gov.au on what to ask your employer before accepting an overseas position. Some are generic and most I’ve already done. However this gives me a good reason to request a contract, so I’ll email my contact in HR next week. I also want to find out about super/pension plans.

Meeting locals
I’ve just returned from a conference in Asia. At the reception, I met a woman who had just completed her PhD at TUE and was now working for Philips. She recommended buying a bicycle — that seems to be the top tip at the moment.
